Fellowships

Sport and Exercise Science New Zealand Associate Fellows and Fellows

 

In recognition of an individual member’s service to sport and exercise in New Zealand, SESNZ has established two levels of fellowship to the organisation.  The first, an Associate Fellowship, is available for those who have completed a BSc or equivalent and meet the criteria as indicated below.  The second Fellowship level is possible for those who have completed a PhD and have provide extended service to sport and exercise science in New Zealand.

 

Application process, required materials and assessment criteria:

SESNZ Associate Fellow, AFSESNZ

SESNZ Associate Fellows shall have made a contribution to the development of sport and exercise science through research. They receive approval by SESNZ after application for associate fellowship by submitting their CV and meeting the following criteria:

  • Short CV
  • BSc level qualification in appropriate field
  • Minimum of 3 years membership (consecutive membership is not required)
  • Participation in annual congress (1 out of last 3)
  • 3 papers in international, peer reviewed journals submitted as first or last author
  • 1 letter of support from a SESNZ Fellow, see list of SESNZ Fellows below (list available from 2018 onwards – in 2017-8 a letter of support will be required to be written by one of the members of the SESNZ Executive Board)
  • Half page summarizing evidence of promoting sports science development (e.g. congress attendance, contribution to congress programme, abstract reviewing, journal reviewing)

 

SESNZ Fellow, FSESNZ

SESNZ Fellows shall have made a significant contribution to the development of sport and exercise science through research. They receive approval by SESNZ after application for fellowship by submitting their CV and meeting the following criteria:

  • Short CV
  • Gained a PhD
  • Minimum of 5 years membership (consecutive membership is not required)
  • Participation in annual congress (1 out of last 3)
  • 10 papers in international, peer reviewed journals submitted as first or last author
  • 2 letters of support from SESNZ Fellows, see list of SESNZ Fellow below (list available from 2018 onwards – in 2017-8 a letter of support will be required to be written by one of the members of the SESNZ Executive Board).
  • One page summarizing evidence of promoting the SESNZ (e.g. promote membership, promote congress attendance, contribution to congress programme, abstract reviewing, Conference abstract reviewing, supervision of post-graduate students.
